THE ACTIVITY OF THE INDUSTRY

In Greece yachting was developed mainly on the basis of the institutional framework of the commercial vessel with the prefecture 438 of 1976 with its subsequent amendments. It was developed with many mainly foreign customers, until the high season, in 2007 when it was estimated that the professional tourist boats were between 4,000-4,500 and were handled by more than 100 brokerage agencies.
The branch of tourist professional boats, includes boats of various types (most sailing boats, mono-hull or catamaran) with a capacity of 8-12 people (4-6 cabins) and daily accommodation depending on the size up to 25 people (accommodation).
Professional yachts up to 24 meters long throughout Greece, today constitute the main volume of Maritime Tourism, attracting a large number of tourists (mainly of the upper income class) from around the world and Greece, who financially support a wide range of professional sectors, tour all the coastal and island regions of the country and support local economies.
